Liverleaf - Original Oil Painting

Liverleaf - Original Oil Painting

€150,00 EUR

When I was hiking along a mountain path in the Austria Alps in February, this liverleaf – appearing feral and brave – was growing beneath huge trees. Amidst the silence of a still wintery forest, it brought light, colour and an early sense of spring. What amazed me was the colour of its petals. Are they blue or purple or something in between? I still can’t tell, sometimes it’s the one and then the other, which brough a special challenge while painting it.

HOW TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR ART

The best way to ensure that your oil painting lasts a lifetime is keeping it away from direct sunlight and to remove dust regularly. Use either a dry brush, or a VERY lightly wetted, soft cleaning rag. Oil paintings usually don't mind a tiny bit of water, though the edges of this painting aren't painted, so take care not not wet the wood, otherwise the wood or the paint may crack.

SUSTAINABILITY

I give my best to make my painting practice more sustainable, so here are some details:
For the Spring Flower Collection I used beech wood panels by Casani, but unfortunately, I don't have any information how the wood has been sourced. Oil paint usually evaporates less VOCs, and I also didn't use any solvents to create this painting. However, the first layer (primer) of acrylic gesso is made of plastic-polymers, just like all traditional acrylic paints. I used synthetic brushes, which means no animals were harmed for this painting.
So, I would give it 2,5 stars from 5 (5= fully sustainable).
